We are constantly bombarded with advice from holistic nutritionists and health practitioners to incorporate more natural products into our lives. But what about our cats and dogs? Perhaps it's time to look at natural pet supplies for our favorite companions.
Most store brand dry and wet pet foods don't have enough nutrition to help nourish your pet. This may not seem to make a difference when your animal is younger but it can make a big difference in how the age or how younger animals like puppies develop.
Not only are these dog/pet foods lacking nutrition with little more than processed corn meal as the main ingredient, many of your vet and store purchased pet medications are damaging and better to replaced with all natural alternatives that are animal safe. Studies revealed the use of synthetic pesticides and repellents to target pests of veterinary and medical significance is becoming increasingly problematic. Many animals develop sensitivities to these compounds, resulting in allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting and no small amount of desperate worry on the part of pet owners. Immune system response is not the only reason to consider alternatives.
Once animals develop an intolerance, or if an owner prefers not to use synthetic products for other reasons, what can a pet owner or veterinarian do to repel pests and treat skin conditions in dogs? Add essential oils for both ingesting and topical applications to improve your pets overall health and nutritional value from their diet. Adding essential oils will help them get the needed nutrients they can't get from their store bough foods.
Make a natural flea repellent by adding six or seven drops of the essential oils of rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, and citronella to a cup of water and shaking well. Use a spray bottle to apply the solution to your dog's coat every other day. This mixture will eliminate the spread of the fleas.
