Foods that will keep you wide awake

Everybody knows snacking on junk food late at night won't help them sleep any better. However, many don't know that there are many healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables that can prevent you from getting a good night's sleep.

There are many foods that provided numerous benefits to your body however, some of the same foods could keep you up all night if you eat them too late in the evening. Everybody knows that vegetables are a crucial part of a diet. Vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower helps the body not only naturally detox but also prevents cancer. However, these types of veggies contain a certain kind of fiber which is harder to digest. Instead of sleeping, your body will be trying to break it down. Another food that could steal away your beauty sleep is dark chocolate. Many recent studies have proved that dark chocolate provides benefits due to the amount of antioxidants it contains. However, it also contains a decent amount of caffeine. You can tell how much caffeine chocolate contains by looking at the darkness of it. The darker the chocolate, the more caffeine it contains.

If you're looking to lose weight, adding spicy foods to your diet can help you drop a few pounds. However, spicy foods can raise your body temperature and even cause heart burn resulting in sleeping problems. Red meat may also be a part of your clean diet because of its protein. Although it's much leaner than other meats, it still contains a lot of fat which, like vegetables, is harder for the human body to digest. Other meats such as cured meats and cheeses could also be the reason you're not sleeping. They contain amino acids that releases a stimulant which makes your body feel more awake and alert.

Usually your diet is to blame when you find yourself wide awake in the middle of the night. If you steer clear of the foods listed above, you should be getting full, uninterrupted sleep throughout the entire night. Also, be sure to add exercises to your day to help burn off extra energy and to slow down your mind. Just don't exercise too close to bedtime. You can do light meditative exercise such as yoga and p.m. Tai Chi before bedtime.
